Downloading Files

The action that follows when a link to a file is clicked on, can depend on which type of Operating System or Web Browser is being used, or by the settings in the Web Browser.

The browser could try an open the file if it recognises its type, or the file could be downloaded immediately to your computer, or you could be prompted asking to what to do next.

To use a consistent method for downloading the files contained on this site, follow these instructions:

  1. Right-click on the link. (Mac users click-and-hold or press Ctrl and then click)
  2. Choose 'Save Target As...', 'Save Link As..' or 'Download Link to Disk'.
  3. Choose a location to save the file, then click 'Save'.

Many of the documents are PDF files. The free Acrobat PDF reader software can downloaded from Adobe.

File Size

The size of each file is provided next to each file link, in either Kilobytes (KB), or Megabytes (MB). If you are using a fast Internet connection, the files should download in less than a minute. However, if you are using a dial-up connnection, the files could takes several minutes to download, depending on their size.
