MACAW provides a variety of training, free or at a greatly reduced cost, for charities and voluntary organisations.
21st and 22nd May - IT training for Adult Learners' Week. Part of Rural Training series.

Session 1: 10.00AM - 12.30PM, Weds 21st May - WINDOWS SHORTCUTS
Shortcuts are combinations of keys on the keyboard which can help you use your computer more quickly, more easily and more efficiently. Almost all computer programs have shortcuts. This training will answer all the common questions such as...
- Why use shortcuts in the first place?
- Do they work in every program?
- What are the F keys?
Session 2: 2.00PM - 4.30PM, Weds 21st May - SETTING UP AN ACCESSIBLE COMPUTER
Accessibility issues affect a lot of computer users. This training session will help you to set up a computer for accessible use, and will show you what accessibility features are built into your computer (there are more than you think!). For example, did you know that you can convert Windows XP to a high-contrast scheme - ideal for partially-sighted users - with just a few clicks of a mouse? Session 3: 10.00AM - 12.30PM, Thurs 22nd May - DIGITAL PHOTOS AND YOUR COMPUTER
Almost everybody owns a digital camera. This training will show you how to make the best of it, for example:
- Easy ways to import your photos from the camera to the computer
- Resizing your photos for email or web use
- Removing red-eye and adjusting picture quality
- Burning your photos to a CD for storage and backup
Session 4: 2.00PM - 4.30PM, Thurs 22nd May - INTRODUCTION TO EMAIL AND THE INTERNET
This training session will give you a good overall basic knowledge of email and the internet. Particular issues covered will be:
- Where do I start?
- How can I set up, and use, an email address?
- How do I send files or photos?
- How do I use a search engine?
- How can I stay safe online?
